Hello everyone!
I’m James Robertson, and I’ve been navigating the intricate world of tobacco for over two decades. My journey in the tobacco industry began right after I graduated with a degree in Agricultural Science, focusing on plant genetics—a field that piqued my interest in tobacco cultivation and processing.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the leading companies in the industry, including British American Tobacco and Philip Morris International. These experiences allowed me to delve deep into various aspects of tobacco production, from the careful selection of seeds to the art of curing and blending leaves to create unique flavors.
My career has been a rewarding adventure, marked by several accomplishments. One of the highlights was leading a project that developed a new curing technique, reducing harmful substances without compromising the tobacco’s flavor. This innovation earned me an award for “Excellence in Research and Development” from the International Tobacco Science Association.
Living in the United States now, I’ve settled in Virginia—a state known for its rich tobacco history. Here, I continue to explore the complexities of tobacco, working on sustainable farming practices that benefit both the environment and the quality of the tobacco produced.
Apart from my professional life, I’m a passionate advocate for responsible tobacco enjoyment and education. I believe in the importance of informed choices and the role of science in enhancing the understanding of tobacco.
Outside of work, I’m an avid hiker and photographer. There’s nothing quite like capturing the breathtaking landscapes of Virginia’s countryside. It’s a hobby that allows me to connect with nature and find inspiration for my work.
